Whutup! Yeah Man . . . . So I just posted my 4th Quarter Edition. And that's it for this year pretty much. Things have slowed down tremendously in the past few months on the beatmaking tip. But I'm working on a new project for 06. This is the project that I was born to make. Stay tuned for that. Oh yeah, and you can check me out on myspace.com too. Holla.

Nothing can explain the sorrow I feel for the people of New Orleans and the surriounding areas that are suffering from Hurricane Katrina. After having left the city barely 12 months ago, I had no clue of the tragedy that was ahead. I have family and friends in the city who have lost their homes. I am so angry and hurt by this situation, especially when I know that it was predicted and may have been prevented if the Bush Administration had not cut the requested funding to pay for an unnecessary war. As I speak now, people are dying in New Orleans. It is a shame that the government would allow one of it's most treasured and cultural cities to fall. My heart goes out to the victims. I hope you survive. I love New Orleans and I hope to see the city back on it's feet once more.
Right now, I'm trying to organize a series of benefit concerts in Atlanta to reach out to displaced New Orleans musicians. I am in touch with members of different brass bands (friends of mine) who have relocated to Atlanta after losing their homes and being evacuated from the city. Please, if you have any resources to help, please contact me at darryl@darrylreeves.com. We need all the help we can get.

P.S. I also want to give a shoutout to guitartist Ede Wright is recovering now from being randomly shot outside his Atlanta apartment two weeks ago. I have preformed with Ede many times during my ongoing stint with trumpeter Russell Gunn. I hope he recovers soon. We love you Ede!

What's up people. I'm here, taking a break to bring you another update. DJ Junior (www.wkdu.org) is in the house, and you can catch his show every friday from 6-9pm (eastern) straight outta Philly. Also, for your web & graphic design needs, check out Curtis Haynes, Jr. This guy is not only one heck of a designer, but he makes head nod beats that make you break yo neck!! I'm still working . . . that's what I'm always doing these days. BUT, I will extend the invitation for you to view my fabulous new e-card for Diary of a Bandstand. Until next time, Peace.

Happy Valentine's Day! . . . okay. We love the kids! This pic was taken in St. Louis while on tour with Russell Gunn, thought I would share this. Well, I've got a few new projects in the works. Some I can, discuss, some I can't. But first up, I've posted a new remix of Julie Dexter's Choices on the production page. Second, Jazzreview.com did a great review on Diary of a Bandstand this month. Third, my next project, Dread Smith is in development. This will be the recording that I was born to make. It's hard for me to define excatly what Dread Smith will be, but if I have to attach a label to the project, it will be funk. This has been in development for a good while (since 2002) and I hope to be wrapping it up soon (like, within the next year). Fourth, I got a huge shoutout from ?uestlove recently, drummer for The Roots, on my Jay-Z Change Clothes remix. He reported that Jay-Z heard it and might have possibly taken a copy for himself. What else? . . I am collaborating with some new folks. Kay (The Foundation, Ali Shaheed Muhammad), Deloach (Strange Fruit Project) and myself are working on a hip-hop project. I am also working on tracks with Carlos Mena and Wale Oyejide. I'm actually remixing Diary of Bandstand. Yes folks, I am remixing my own jazz album (which includes getting my emcee skills up to snuff). It isn't complete yet, but I will give you a sample here. We have been putting the finishing touches on Russell Gunn's new album. Look out for that soon. Trust me, you won't want to miss that. Russell is pushing ahead to places where no jazz musician dares to go. I have some other stuff that I'm doing, but I'm trying to keep it under wraps. I will say this though, I did recently play on a song for India Arie's upcoming album, which was fun. That's all folks!

Happy New Year! Well, after much deliberation I finally decided to update my production page with some new material. Check out the First Quarter Edition, fifteen new tracks that I did for the new year. Also, stay tuned for some Julie Dexter remixes from yours truly. Hopefully, they will be available on vinyl soon. That's all for now. Holla!

Okay, here we go folks. Happy Holidays!!! First of all, big shoutout to Steve Truesdell for this photo taken at the St. Louis Jazz Bistro. Secondly, it's been a while since I've updated the site, but for good reason. I have been busy!! From the road to the studio, I've been hustling to get things accomplished. So anyway, I'll be adding some new soundbytes soon. I'm working on a new project. Holla back, Peace.

Hello Folks! I'm back and I've fully recovered from Israel. The Red Sea Festival was the best festival I've played in a while. Bad Plus did their thing and Cindy Blackman was in the house with her group. They were all killin! Check out the Audio/Visual section, I have added another collection of live music from a past date at Snug Harbor. Also, tentative dates for the upcoming Russell Gunn tour have been added. Check back for more dates in the near future.

Hello to all. It's a good feeling to know that my website has finally been updated. It has been a while. Well let's see, where are we? I just moved out of New Orleans. Now I live in the utopia known as Atlanta, GA. Things have been going pretty well this summer. I'm gearing up now for the release of my new cd, Diary of a Bandstand. I know some folks have grown impatient as to when the cd will be available. Well, in the stores, who knows? But you can get the cd online at Tower Records for now. Other than that, I'll be back later with some news. From the looks of it, I'll be going on tour with Russell Gunn later in the year. Looking forward to that.
